About our Services:

On Saturday nights, we offer a unique time to experience our weekend Bible study at 7:15pm in the Annex downtown followed by a really great time of accountability led by Jesse and one of our awesome female leaders in groups divided by gender and/or grade level. After accountability time, we go out to eat, or may go to the movies or bowling, so come check it out! On Sunday morning, our Lakeside Bible study starts at 9:00am. This group has grown significantly over the past couple of years. Jesse teaches once every few weeks and our amazing volunteers teach every other week. On the third Sunday of each month, our Student Ministry band comes in to lead worship just for our Lakeside students at 10:15! Meanwhile, our downtown middle school students have Bible study beginning at 9:30 in the Annex followed by high school Bible study at 11:00am. These are great groups too! All of our teachers are trained to teach at a truly high level. Every few weeks, all of the downtown groups will kick-off or close out together in the main worship room where Jesse will teach the lesson for that week. On Wednesday nights, middle school Bible study begins at 6:00 and all students of all grade levels are welcome to come in around 5:30 for some pizza (free for guests!) and the chance to make new friends. At 6:30, high school students pile in so that our whole student ministry can worship together. Then, at 7:00, middle schoolers go to the game rooms so that the high school Bible study can begin. We are usually finished by 8:30.

There is Love Here:

This Student Ministry is built on God's word (the Bible) and on a culture defined by love. Our weekend services (Saturday nights Downtown and Sunday mornings at both campuses) focus on bringing you to the next level in your walk with God whether that's from unbelief to belief or from passionate love to bold global mission work. These services are more scaled down and set in smaller groups according to grade level and gender. Our team of amazing teachers and volunteers are trained to teach and counsel students straight from the Bible so that, even though we have a large ministry, every single student is prayed for individually each week through this program. We strive to see to it that no one falls through the cracks and gets overlooked. Our Wednesday night services focus on introducing people to Jesus and on passionate and loud worship. This service is always a huge party with students packed wall-to-wall. It's incredibly fun and a great way to get to know our ministry for the first time. We have our own band led by Katherine Goins and they are truly exceptional both in their contagious passion as authentic worship leaders and in their excellence as musicians. Don't feel awkward about meeting new people at a Wednesday night service: we'll feel awkward for you and introduce ourselves to you! The messages at both weekend and Wednesday night services are taught straight from the Bible with deep and challenging insight.

Local and Global Missions:

This ministry is far more than a series of Bible studies, though. Our Student Ministry is extremely active in terms of both local and global mission work. On the first Saturday of each month, we send a bus load of students to the heart of downtown Orlando to feed the homeless. This is one of several opportunities you'll have to impact your community in a beautiful way. Each summer, students from First Baptist Windermere travel to the farthest reaches of the world to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who need it. Since the summer of 2011, students have ministered to orphans in Kenya, families in Brazil, unreached people in Peru, underground believers in China, and thousands of people in Panama, Guatemala, Ecuador, Taiwan, Canada, Costa Rica, and Zambia. We have sent water filters to people who are thirsty in India and packaged food for people who are hungry in Burundi. Through the Students of First Baptist Windermere going on global missions, God has brought 1,282 people to salvation in just two summers! The future of the missions aspect of our ministry is incredibly exciting as we have opportunities in even more countries including the U.K., Australia, and Haiti. If you are a member of First Baptist Windermere, pray about where God will have you go this summer.

Big Events:

We also put on some really cool events each year. Each January, we head to the snowy mountains to snowboard and ski together. This February, come to our Lakeside Campus for a crazy sports tournament and food truck festival. In March, we host "Disciple Now" wherein the students stay in the homes of First Baptist Windermere church members divided according to grade level and gender. Each Disciple Now has a different theme and it's always over-the-top. The houses come together for awesome worship concerts, to compete in video scavenger hunts, or even to put on a massive flash mob at crowded places around Windermere and Winter Garden! In May, we honor our graduating seniors and kidnap our incoming fresh batch of seventh graders to introduce them and their parents to our ministry. Then, if they're up to it, they live out Joshua chapter 3 in our Downtown gym and sprint at our own "Jordan River" and into the loving arms of our students; now officially students at First Baptist Windermere! Over the summer, we have a ton of fun events like regular surfing trips to Cocoa Beach, water park blitzes, and nighttime bonfires at our Lakeside campus where we have a great view of Disney's fireworks at night. In July, we go to Studentlife Camp in Daytona Beach where we stay right on the water and surf our brains out in between worship sessions with Chris Tomlin. In the Fall, we reach out to our schools in fun ways and host camping trips. At our last Christmas party, we roasted a whole pig and ate Cuban food (for some reason). Our event schedule changes a little each year as we experiment with new ideas and as our ministry grows. Each event is built around the purposes of introducing people to Jesus, bringing people closer to Jesus, or just giving new people an opportunity to connect with our students and become part of our family.

Come and be a part of our family. There is love here for you! "And this is my prayer; that your love would abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight so that you will be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ Jesus, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes from Christ Jesus to the glory and praise of God, amen." -Philippians 1:9-11
